Public funding from the City of Houston funds competitive arts grants open to local artists and organizations whose works enrich the lives of both city residents and visitors.

HAA administers the City of Houston’s arts grantmaking investment through a grants process overseen by the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA).

Artists and organizations apply for city funding in five grant programs that are adjudicated through a peer and community–based process.

Houston’s public art events, programming and creative experiences are more vibrant and diverse than ever. Grantees help attract an arts and culture audience of over 20 million attendees each year and are a driving force behind making Houston such a unique cultural destination.
