Posting on Artshound.com

Anyone can post on Artshound.  You do not need to be an HAA grantee/grantee organization.

How To Post An Event On Artshound

1.    ArtsHound is set up so that you may include as much detail about your events as you would like.  In fact, we encourage you to do so.  Think of an artshound listing as a free advertisement and SELL yourself and your event.

2.    The first thing you do is click on either on the right-hand side of any page, or look for the Submit options at the very bottom of any artshound website page.

3.    You will next be taken to a page where you are asked to “Select your Organization.”  You may either type in the organization name or use the pull-down menu.  If your organization is not already listed, check the box that says “My organization is not listed here.”

4.    Whether or not the organization is already posted on the site, you will then be asked to check to make sure the event is not already posted. (We are trying to avoid duplicate postings).  You can speed up the organization and event search by typing in as much of the title/organization name as possible to make the pull-down menus shorter.

5.    If your event is not already posted, you will then be taken to the “Submit an Event” screen.  When submitting an event, always include the following:

a.    Date(s) of event
b.    Time(s) of event (if you are a gallery, please include the time for the opening/artist reception and ALSO the days and times the gallery is open for regular viewing)
c.    Ticket prices (or indicate if event is free)
d.    Contact phone number (this is for the public to call to either gather more information and/or to order tickets)
e.    Website link
f.    Full description of event.  We encourage you to include biographical details about the artists/performers and also any thematic or other details about the event itself. We can always edit, but tracking you down for missing information can significantly delay how long it takes us to post your listing.

6.    Always include a picture!

a.    ArtsHound can only accept jpeg format pictures.  If all you have is some other format, please email this to support@artshound.com and indicate which event you wish the picture paired with.
b.    PLEASE identify what is in the picture.  If it is a representative artwork, identify the artist, the title of the piece, the medium, and the year.  If it is a cast/performer shot, please identify the actor(s) and the role(s).  We always want to give credit, and loathe posting photos or graphics with no id.  (And also give credit to the photographer for photos, if you have that information).
c.    Be aware that the ArtsHound template for pictures works best with vertically-oriented pictures.  We can take horizontal pictures in a pinch, but you will be more likely to get time on the Home Page and also inclusion in the weekly newsletter if the picture is a vertical one.

7.    Many many organizations and venues are now set up on artshound.  However, if you need to post your organization, we prefer the graphic to be of the organization’s logo.  Please include a brief description of the org. or venue in their posting and all phone/web/address details.

8.    You may also submit classifieds listings such as auditions, calls for artists, jobs, studios for rent, etc.  To do so, click on “Submit Your Info” and then “Submit Classifieds.”  No image is needed for classifieds postings.

9.    If you have ANY QUESTIONS about any of this, please contact Karen Ross, Houston Arts Alliance Communications Coordinator at karen@haatx.com, or by phone at 713-527-9330 ext. 124.
